Sounds of the Rainforest

For this project I wanted to do something unique with this project, so I thought of doing some sort of nature documentary. To do this I imported a track of rainforest sounds and also a track I recorded of me talking. I moved the audio track of me talking using the time shift tool which is located at the top toolbar, it looks like a double sided arrow, and placed the track about ten seconds into the rainforest track. Because everything was too loud, I highlighted the rainforest track and went to effects, chose the effect amplify, and for new peak amplitude I set it to -12 decibels. I then used the same steps with the voice track but instead I set the peak amplitude to -8 decibels. I highlighted the voice track and went to effects, chose reverb, and set room size to 100. Next, I used the tool ‘fade in’ which is located in the effects. I used that tool at the beginning to ease in the ambiance of the forest sounds. Then once the audio track began I used the fade in on my voice also. To fade out the music I used the adjustable fade tool also located in effects. I highlighted the music track a few seconds before my voice came in to a few seconds after and made the settings go from 100 percent to 40 percent. I then used the amplify tool again and highlighted the rest of the track and set it to -28 to make it equal with the faded track. Then at the end of the voice track I used the adjustable fade tool again to get the sound back up to normal. I had to really play around with the numbers in order to get the music track to be equal and not have an audible skip in the sound levels. I ended up fading the sound back up to 300 percent using the tool and then lowered the ending audio to match the newly adjusted sound level. I then used the fade out tool to fade the track back to 0 to end the project.
